Why is the Pintle Hook on the CCKW shaped like it is? This is bound to stretch the imagination 60+ years into the game. It is the only one in the WWII inventory of vehicles that had this distinct shape. I know it ain't made that way so that it can be found in the dark. Is it a counterweight, a handle. It is not an appendage, as that would be a waste of steel(562,000 GMC 6X6s). You will find this hook on the AFKW, White Scout Car, Halftracks, Chevrolet 4X4, Ford GTBs, the Pre War GMC ACK series trucks. It has been around since the 30s.
