Horn button

I have never figured out how you can have a military vehicle with BO lights and a protruding horn button like on the CCKW and Chev.

At least a few times per year, I hit it by accident while turning a corner while hitting a bump.

You would have thought that there would be a ring raised up to protect it or had the horn intergrated into the BO system so it would not work when under BO condition.

May they figured the horn is so weak that the enemy could not hear it at night.

However I think that use of the blackout lights while driving had more to do with air attacks than the possibility of a ground situation. After all if enemy soldiers are anywhere near they can hear the engines running, and definately the transmissions in these old trucks.

What we need is a video of you driving your contraption, we gotta see this for ourselves, Hell, my horn don't blow exactly when planned, I need to get your technique down pat. What you are telling us is that you have to get the CCKW to bounce and going around a corner to get the horn to blow. My problem is straightaways in parades, but you have got me thinking. Mine goes just fine, except for the horn. Steve, I guess being an Electrical Engineer is paying off, your horn works just fine.

All of this horn talk is leaving " ringing" in my ears.

I am a true believer that someday the "goose" will replace horn buttons.
