MUD FLAPS

Did you know that the late 1945 CCKW Cargo Trucks had an unusual rear mud flap? It was not rigid, it was in segments and was flexable. I noticed that these were on the late composite wood floored steel body built by Budd. Manny Rogers has a truck equipped with these.

I don't know that they are scarce, but there are not that many CCKWs in one location to view. They are linked together and flap back and forth with the motion of the truck, and not as prone to damage when they come in contact with obstacles. They may not show up in the latest Ord 9 printed in the 50s, but I do not have a late ORD 9 to check. I doubt that you can pick up the phone and order any.

It seems like I got all of these rare pieces on my "Airportable" June 45 353.

Attached is a picture, prior to my purchase of the truck, of those flaps. One needs some serious work.
