March or April 1945. on the dataplate it would have been stamped as 3-45 or 4-45.

Hope this helps!

Strange chassis number

Post by Ledog »

777 AAA wrote:The frame number is CCKW 73186 - B1. It's a closed cab, split axles, no winch, cargo body. (Note that B1 would say it HAS a winch, but it doesn't).
What would you say about this B1? All my sources says that letter B means with winch and letter A means no winch. Mine has no winch and it seems it hasn't been removed. How can we explain that?

I'm about to engrave the dataplate for my CCKW (nomenclature plate). What should I write?

73186 - B1 (as it is on the chassis)
or
73186 - A1 (as it should be without winch) :?: :?: :?:

If it were me I'd probably use whatever is stamped on the chassis. it would be interesting to know why your truck has the B suffix but no winch.

Is this rule always true? Or is there exceptions?

Code: Select all

A=non winch
B=winch

I don't know of any exceptions,I have all the CCKW TM 10 manuals and there is no mention in them of any change in the chassis codes.
