Tarp Lashings

Post by Karoshi »

Can anyone confirm details of the cargo tarp lashings?. My Beechwood supplied canvas has seperate ties securing the tarp to the body, but I have seen WW2 vintage photos showing what appears to be a continuous lash. Any thoughts,

Seperate ties securing the tarp to the body is the WW2 way .
A continuous lash is the easy way.

You mean Beachwood just put a knot on end of each tie down rope to secure it in the grommet, I presume. That was done back in CCKW days, but other methods were used also A whip was used where a metal band formed a secure loop that secured each rope to the Carco Cover grommets, and a "splice was also used by some to make the loop.
