Need pics of 'rarer', heck ANY CCKW item

Post by pfarber »

It seems that between the many fine members of CCWK.org we should have a library of some sorts to catalog the harder to find parts, or even the more common ones for ID purposes.

Basically since there are no CCKW books, we should collectivly post what we have and make one.

Even if all you have is a regular camera... send the pics to me and I will scan/catalog/host them.

Things like the master cylinder inspection cover... I may have thrown out a box and not even know it, or mirrors, reflectors, you name it.

The TMs are a good start, but a color close up of the real deal would make life easier for those of use putting a CCKW back together.

ANY camera will do. That, an envelope and a $0.39 stamp will get the pic processed.

ANYTHING will be a good start.

This is a great idea. I will look forward to the postings. I have to depend on my wife to operate te didgital camera, then put te material on my compter and then transfer it. I am handicapped with anything other than a set of wrenches and a really big hammer.

I've often thought about this too. I have TM's but find myself running across some part or piece and not having a good mental refrence to know if it is the correct part or not.

GREAT IDEA!

Here is the master cylinder inspection cover.
Image

It measures 3 3/8 inches across the flat, round plate.

and here is the hand crank.

It measures approximately 39 1/2 inches long total length. Once I sandblast and repaint the crank and repair the teeth on the bracket that holds the crank in place on the bumper, I will take new photos.

More photos of the parts can be seen at

If you need higher resolution photos, let me know and I'll email them to you.

hand crank

G'day mates!
Just keep in mind that this picture of the crankhandle (OZZIE lingo) is an early one...correct for an early truck. The loose fitting tin hand piece was removed in later production. Part numbers changed also.

I wonder if there were different types of master cylinder inspection covers for the open cab. While the one in my truck is the same size, it is not perfectly flat, but is slightly curved and does not have the metal wings on top like yours is. Mine is probably a lot later than the one you have in your truck, so that might answer the question as to the difference. Nick, does your cover have the little spring claws that push down into the floor board to hold the cover down? Interesting how many differences can be seen in these old trucks.

Jim, by spring claws, I assume you mean the little claws that go all the way around the outside edge of the cover on some covers. I'll try and find a photo on the internet of what I'm talking about. If infact that is what you are talking about, then no, my cover doesn't have spring claws. The two tabs sticking up from the cover in the picture are what hold the cover down in the floor board, although they aren't quite bent right in that photo.
