Receiver set BC 728.

Post by Karoshi »

Well the markings on the dash would suggest it being a Reciever SCR 593. Manufactured by Hallicrafters. AM frequency range 2.0 - 6.0 MC, receive only. Also known as a Receiver BC-728.

Used a a part of Transceiver BC 669

You would need to check TM 11-859 for details.

That would be a great addition to my old CCKW. What antenna would be used in that installation?

WW2 kit

Post by Karoshi »

It was period kit developed mid war around '43. and used commonly by Coastal Artillery and AAA units.

Using a 7ft telescoping antenna type AN -75A, it was a receive only unit used I believe for gun correction from a forward observer.

I think a larger (14 ft ?) antenna was also available.

Sorry about this but you'll have to practice your French:

Interesting site Karoshi and fairly easy to understand even with my limited French, although I can't quite fathom the link between WW11 radios and DVD's :? :D

Go to Yahoo.com and use the search engine for this exact phrase including the quotes:

"Attention France: Les émetteurs vendus sur"

Choose the second item by clicking on translate

A bit easier in English.... :D

I think the antenna may have been mounted to the engine side cover as I have seen a pix of something which I did not know what it was so attached.
