New GMC chassis number could you.....help me with the age please?!
It is the tipper as seen in pictures in another thread and here are the details;
353 Hard Cab
Tipper & airportable
Chassis number - CCKW 353 402914 H1

Hi Jack
Chassis number 402914 H1 is November 1944 and most likely has had a cab change , because its a tipper and mfg Nov of 44 it would have had a open cab. But don't let that bother you its a great looking truck Enjoy
My truck was mfg Jan 1942 and it should have a closed cab but was rebuilt in 1955 by Rootes London, England and must have been changed to a open cab

Hi Jack, 475 airportable tippers were built so, yes, I think you could say they are fairly rare.

So would anyone have any idea of how many of the 475 are left ?
Where can I found all of the information/batch numbers so I can date them as well?

Mines an air-portable and I see at least three other listed in the registery as air portables I 'd guess that a few dozen have been saved around the world . Its difficult say how many have all three parts correct open cab split chassie and split body , a number have been depo rebuilt and dont have an open cab or correct body . It's having a CCKW with a special adaption/converstion that was built with an ability although never used while sharing all the other standard parts as all other CCKW's
Plus it's a great story of how and why they were made to share with others.
