I got this picture from David Doyle and you will notice the different tire on the LeRoi Compressor truck.

Looking at the GI on the running board and hid uniform, I wonder if this is Korea or even (French) Vietnam? Might be Aussies with the tank

I would like to remind you that there was a rubber shortage during the Korean War, I have fond memories of pedaling my bike with a used automobile tire hung on each handlebar. to the nearest tire dealer, to exchange them for movie tickets ($0.12) You could also do the same with coat hangers, as thet cleaners were not able to get supplies of new one. The tire is obviously an expedient, and the reason lost w/time. (Looks like an earth mover tread) The US Army Depots had their own Tire retreading Plants, and used the same NDT tread pattern for recapping.

From working a junk yard years and years ago, I remember them telling me stories about the price of junk steel inthe Korean War, but I was unaware of the rubber shortage.

I remember reading someplace that during the KW that they paid Japanese companies to go out to the Pacific Islands to retreive WW2 equipment that the US had just left there and bring it back to Japan and rebuild it for Korea.
