Mounting data plates in open cab

Hello,
What type and size of screws were originally used for mounting the data plates in the open cabs? Slotted, cross-recessed, phillips? Were small nuts used on the outside or were the screws just threaded directly in the sheet metal of the cab?
Best Regards/Niklas

Hello all, Whilst not having the definitive answer all that I can offer is this,.... there were a few original data plates still in position when I started the rebuild on my 353 H1, When removed , a single coat of original paint was beneath these plates, therefore I believe that they could have been undisturbed since being fitted, fixed with small blind rivets.I have refitted these plates using similar blind rivets and they look right (well they dont look wrong ! )
This is about as close as I can get to the answer you require. I sincerely hope that this has been of some help to you. Best regards Erb.

The most original CCKW I ever owned was a very late 1945 Open Cab 353.
It had all the original US data tags in place. The dash plates on that one were secured with small round head machine screws with a single slotted head and with hex nuts to the outside of the cab. Can't remember if they were brass or steel. Seems like they were brass screws?
I have some photo's someplace. I think this was the original arrangment. Rebuilt trucks all seem to have phillips head screws or later ones with riveted fasteners on the data plates.
I think I have some of the original screws in the parts stash. Let me know if you want photos.

My dump truck has little single slot head screws, still don't know if it's the original way. Bulkhead is not threaded, hexagon nuts outside.

Was rebuilt in 1951 at Waiblingen Ordance rebuild shop Europe, on the plate it has the chassis number and the USA bonnet number too, a nice bit of history.
