I have a friend who found a closed cab CCKW vintage unknown,he says the sheet metal is cherry, doors, windshield frame with glass, dash gauges, original seats, not sure about the spare braket, but a good tank and lights,no bed of coarse and some one started changing out the axels from splits to banjo, the engine is gone but the rest of the mechanicals are there, all for $100.00,now the problem,it's three hours away and I can't afford to have it trucked,I'm contiplating cutting the frame behind the transfer case, disconnecting the drive shafts leave the rear diffs on enough frame to move as a unit, this I could get all this on my heavy duty car trailer and still pull it with my one ton van. I have two good frames already, the 40 and 45. Is it worth the trouble and expense to keep it whole? I hate to butcher history but how much is too much. Opinions welcomed, but be kind. Thanks for all the help and info I have gotten from you guys so far.

Hi Bob,

If I were in that situation I'd try to get the frame number before deciding what to do,if it's a very early truck it would be a real shame to cut it.

Without seeing its not easy to give an opinion, but following your discription I would cut it and save all good parts.

Why restore an early or rare truck when most rare and/or expensive parts are not there..my opinion

I differ. I would try to get the truck , complete wuithout cutting it back hoime. For only 100.00 it would be worth it to somebody some day to save another piece of history, but then my CCKW was a piece of junk when I got it ( look at the before and after pictures on this site.)
just my opinion.
