TM info and rebuild plate info

Post by Degsy »

T hese requests are on behalf of a friend who has no access to a computer. He has recently bought an early 352 which has the pre- Bendix hydrovac system, can anyone give me the correct TM no for this vehicle?
He also owns a 353 ex- Norway but crries a rebuild plate which reads-:
United Auto Parts Co Inc.
Ordnance Division
Kansas City Mo
Recon Date 1.10.53
Job No 462.
Any info on this company etc would be greatly appreciated.
Incidentally the 352 was used in Band of Brothers and has also appeared in other movies.

Hi

If you cant find any info about the rebuildplate here, then try www.g503.com
And ask at the mb/gpw knowledgebase if they know something about
it. There are like here very knowledge people on that messageboard.

TM10-1501 Covers CCKW 342/343 From USA W 429270-W457269 somewhere from Feb thru June 41. CCKWX was earlier with same brakes. Mine was converted by the Army at some point with later system and they apparantly used factory everything for Vacuum Lines thru Hydraulic tubing, as all are standard items. Must have been a depot task.

Degsy,

My "Airborne" 353 was rebuilt by the same company on 12/15/52, Job Number 370, prior to it being sent to Norway as part of the MDAP program.

Unfourtunately I have no other info about this company.

Thanks for the info guys, I was pretty sure you would come up with the TM
info Joel, I will pass it on.I wonder if this company had a contract to refurb a batch of trucks prior to shipment to Norway.Any thing you can dig up on this would be very interesting Bill. Thanks again.

Degsy,

I was told that my 353 with a June 45 build date never was delivered to an services unit, but instead went directly into storage.

It was then pulled out in late 52 and rebuilt with O miles on it before being part of MDAP.

I have no way to confirm or deny that but it makes for a good story.
