I've seen reference to a book by Emile Becker on the CCKW,does anyone have this book? Is it worth the money? Is it in english? I've looked and the only place I can find it is in Europe,the discription is always in french or italian,and I barely speak english.Bob.

Hi

The book is in a mixt french and german .
It is a very intresting book .
Almost everything from the GMC is in it
Even turrets , radio's and trailers.
300 pages many pictures.

The pictures in this book alone make it worth while. Most of the captions can be understood although they are in mainly French. As Almrens said: its a very interesting book. If you can speak the international language of " Picture" ...go for it.

Try Victory Publications 1-888-428-1942 (Tom Bernt) he may have it, or Portrayal Press. It will kill $50.00-$60.00, it is well worth it. I have been able to pick thru the French/German, there is some English though. I keep mine handy and review it several times a year.

This is a great book. The photos are super, and they cover everything including jerry cans, pioneer tools, trailers, machine gun mounts, besides the CCKW's themselves.
You can kind of figure out what the french captions are saying. Lots of photos of CCKW's at war.

However Google and Amazon show no US sources.

Emil Becker has made the same book for the Jeep and the Dodge 3/4 ton. He has also made a very interresting book about markings on vehicles and organisation of US army ETO. Every four books are in french and german.

Yes, and photos of the hydraulic system, tale gate and set up. This book is great, but as previously mentioned, the book is in German and French.

Makes you wonder, on how some of the best books come from Europe. I have spent hundreds on Beckers books. They are not cheap, but the contents are worth every bit of the cost.
