In the movie Pearl Harbour, when the airfield is being attacked, the fuel truck that is blown up is a M35 w/ a spare tire on the front to "disguise" it.

There is a CCKW Open Cab that has been used as part of the Tora Tora Tora reinactment by the CAF, that aint chopped liver is it? It is nice to see these old WWII trucks pop up and add some semblance of reality. There were a lot of WWII movies in 60s-70s that did worse, the Battle of the Bulge was way off with M-41 Bulldogs and M-Series Reos. Even MASH had mongrel vehicles, and the dubbed in sound appeared to make the Jeeps doing 50MPH in low range.
I have been on some Tank firing ranges where the moving trucks were wooden silhouettes, that is a bummer too. There was a Willie and Joe Movie that had authentic WWII trucks. ( Bill Mauldin was a good Jeep parts customer of mine in the 80s, he had a very colorful vocabulary and was as much fun to talk to as it was to read his books.)

At the November airshow at Randolph AFB we , the owners of some military vehicles, were part of the Tora attack. I had my 43 open cab, there were two MB jeeps with machine guns and the only vehicle that fit the Pearl Harbor profile , a 41 Ford staff car. It was great fun, and amist all of the fire, smoke and explosions we fired blanks out of our Springfields and Tommy guns at the menancing Japanes zeros, Kates and Vals. To add further to the stretching of history somewhat, an American fighter plane got off the ground to attack the Zekes as they straffed us. Not the Curtis P-40 , that was down for mechanical problems, but a P-51 Mustang did the honors,
We did stretch history somewhat but the crowd loved it and as we arose from the dead on the ground and mounted our vehicles we were given a loud cheer from our fans at the crowd line.
At least the stuff was all WWII stuff.
