Funny, how some insugnificant things stick in your mind forever, I still remember the Serial Number of my Dayton Bicycle from 57 years ago, 8H200815, and that May 11, 1956 was the last time I saw an active GI B-17 in flight, it was the USCG PB-1G version, and was on final approach to Dow AFB. These used to park at Dow around April-May each year. They were used on International Ice Berg Patrol

Memories are great for us old critters. In the early 60's I remember seeing a B-17 being used as a spray plane to spray fire ants in the Mississippi delta area on the Louisiana side.
