There are many ways to refer to your CCKW, "Deuce and a half", "Deuce," "WWII Deuce", "Blitz Buggy," "Troop Carrier", "Jimmy"' "Six By", Two and a Half Ton", "Six by Six", "Two and a Half Ton Truck", "Jimmy Six by Six", "Truck, Two and a Half Ton Six by Six", "Two and a Half Ton Cargo", etc.
It all boils down to how or when you are introduced to them, those that were introduced to them in the 1940s-1950s military, or the same time period in civilian life, learned to call them as they were known to the military at that time.
The 1960s sort of changed that, terminology sort of got "jived" up a bit, the new soldiers of the 60s introduced us to new terms and word meanings became products of moderni maginations. The soldiers from the "old school" were thinning from the ranks and many new terms caught on. The Two and a Half Truck got affectionately called "Deuce and a Half", Tanks became "Tracks" etc.
Some may not get used to reminders from the old school, but the service had a way to make its soldiers conform back then. It wasn't all that bad.
There are collectors that collect their trucks and don the old uniforms to hoot and holler in ways they percieve it happened, and there are others who want to remember the good old times and relive them for a few moments here and there.
It's just a hobby, and a hobby is all about enjoying it, there is room for everyone...........

Well said Joel. When I was a kid in the late 40's there were a lot of the old GMC's being used in the oil fields of Louisiana and on farms. We called them Jimmy's back then. We had two big trucks on my grandfathers farm. The Jimmy and the Diamond T. Nothing else needed to be said.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane Joel.
