We are Back!!
Greetings All,
We are back!!!!!!!
It has been 7 long lonely weeks without the CCKW message board and even longer than that since it functioned correctly.
Brief history of what went on and why.
Constant crashes of the board and site on top of the damn cookie issue led to me spending some serious time and money to move the web site with message board to a new host with domestic USA technical help. I am confident that the new site will work better and any problems will be resolved quicker.
The main site transferred easily but the data archive on the message board was a much larger problem. Apparently the old host believed that the contents of the message board was their property (because it was housed on their server). They would not allow easy backups and locked down the data due to arguements we were having over who owned it. At first I tried the cheap and easy way out but they were unwilling to budge. It finally resulted in me hiring legal representation to "get the data back". This was accomplished within the last few weeks.
Problem number 2 occurred when I found out the new host uses Linux servers while the old host used Microsoft based servers. (for you geeks out there the old board data was in MSSQL while the new host requires MySQL language). One language is not compatible with the other so a programmer had to be hired to convert the database and tables over to the new language. Something that was well above my expertise.
The board is back up with no loss of posted data!!!
There are some minor issues.
1 You will have to (for the last time I hope) delete you cache and cookies. The new cookie that is set should work as it did 9 months ago.
2 You may have to go in and correct location, website, signature, interests, etc on your profile as there was a problem transferring and catagorizing that data.
3 Due to syntax issues with Linux some pictures are dead links. Please email me the location of the thread where the dead links are and I will correct them.
There will be a test period here. Do not hesitate to email weasel_nut with any issues you find.
Enjoy and it is good to be back!
