Some pictures of what Dr. Deuce and I spotted on Thursday night.
Rusty but nice....very restorable.
353-358352-A1 21899 miles
And check this next one out....
Looked like original paint.
Could this have been original USMC
353-174394-A1 1606 miles USMC 100082
No body on truck.
Is that the correct font for WWII USMC stenciling or is it post war?

Why do you get to find all the good stuff?!?! It's not fair! It's probably better that you find them than me anyway, though.. The fact that you've found a super rare fuel truck is one thing but the fact that you've found an original Marine Corps truck is even better
The fonts in the Marine Corps were not standardized as far as I know. But that looks like a 40's/50's stencil font if I had to guess. Marine Corps registration #'s were 5-6 digits long during WW2. They are all six digit now.
However, due to the fact that you've got that semi gloss forest green interior I would say that it is a post-war paint job - probably Korean era if I had to guess.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the tanker was probably on an MCAS or NAS somewhere due to that yellow paint job. My CCKW K-53 is the same (faded) color. And if you would like to compare paint chips I would be glad to as I'm going to have to get this paint mixed up custom anyway.
This tanker is great and all and I know Bill already has one but I am going to go and check out a rumored Quickway Crane about 90mi away either tommorow or next weekend. If it really exists and is in restorable condition, then I think we'll all be even.

Was just wondering if the thanker should have been without the "A" prefix after the serialnumber. Henche to it beeing a spessial body not mounted on the GM line, but rather delivered as chassie/cab

Well I guess I "own them" as of Sunday. We agreed on a price for the USMC one and the tanker. Hopefully the USMC one will donate a useable rear rear axle to Annie the Schield-Bantam crane so I can get that one back on the road again.
They will come home in the spring.
That makes 10 now! HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!
I then will own .00177% of all the GMC deuces made in WW2!!!!

Don't worry Doc...I won't tell anybody on the list, especially any of the marines, that you plan on parting out the USMC truck.
You know the one with the original paint job and lettering.
It will be just our little secret....You can trust me...I am not like the others...

I would love to see the tanker restored and in flight line yellow. I can imagine a photo of her next to a B-17 at an airshow somewhere.
