Hi guys,
I notice quite a few guys from the Central Valley post here, and I've been going a little crazy trying to track down a rare ACKWX w/winch I had stored in Bako' at Ray Pesante's place, so I'm seking help. He passed away a few years back and his son said "don't worry about your truck", but I can't contact him anymore or find anyone who knows what happened to the Pesante's.
If you remember Ray and his shiny M135 at meets he was quite a character (he got me into the hobby), but his health declined after his wife died and he left a small collection of halftracks, jeeps, the M135 and a CCKW; his son told me "the vultures were circling" when he passed away.
I'm afraid the ACKWX cab & chassis went to the torch and all I have left is the hood...but...anybody know what happened to his stuff? I guess I need to go up to Bako', but I don't wanna think about what I (won't) find.
And since I'm thinking about Bakersfield, does anyone know if that CCW is still near the 99 freeway south of town? I tried for years when I lived there to get some info with no luck.
Many TIA,

Hi Tom,
I'll see if I can find any info for you but I don't know anyone south of Fresno that collects MVs other than some people down in San Diego.
I'll ask around for you.
I don't know about your ACKWX but I know where an ACKX is. It is just south of Firebaugh. I don't know whether the owner is willing to sell or not as I have never stopped to ask about it.

Nick,
E-mail is bouncing--If you're by the place with the GMC some time, I would like to find out if it's for sale. Mine is pretty well crapped out.
Did you fetch anything at Paul Wooff(sp?) yard auction? I think it was five to seven years ago. Anybody else on CCKW.org get some goodies?
I missed out on the auction, and that was after I went through the yard to give relatives an idea of what things might be worth. I really liked the road rollers and the Federal crane. Also remember the Oshkosh crane that was visible from the 99 from the years when I went to CSUF, even though it was a civvy model. Ah well, couldn't have afforded to move them even if I got 'em--hope they didn't get scrapped out.
Cheers!

Tom, I've done some asking around and can't find any info on your truck in Bakersfield. Unfortunately, I never go down there otherwise I would look for you.
Next time I'm out in Firebaugh, I'll stop in and see what I can find out about the truck there. I only go there once in awhile too, but that truck hasn't moved in years.
Sorry I couldn't help w/ info on your truck in Bako.
