Finally restoring my CCKW.

I am finally getting to my CCKW....after 3 years of owning it.

I figured while I had the time I would sand blast and POR-15 prime the truck so no more rusting would occur.

In sandblasting the truck. I figure it took over 7000 pounds of "Black Beauty" slag media too clean the layers of old paint and rust off. Bought 3000 lbs in 100# bags and then I reuse twice more until the stuff gets dirty and lacks a real cutting edge. Took about 30 hours to sand blast off the 2 coats of brushed on paint, 1 coat of OD spray and black primer. The bed had the same but the primer was WWII yellow/green stuff.

I then primed with POR-15 black to seal and prevent rust. It turned into a nice "Swat Team" CCKW.

With the days of painting in this neck of the woods nearing an end for the year I shot it with the first coat of Gillespee 319. Still some body work to do but at least now it is more water tight.

Still alot left to do. Carb, Engine, Brakes, composite bed floor, tires,....

Hey bill,
It's a daunting task but a labor of Love! :D My first jeep I had 10 years before I had the time or funds to do the restoration right. My CCKW took a couple of years but it was great. Even now it's truly therapeutic to tinker on it for hours. My wife just shakes her head! Hammerhead
