This arrived the other day....
1944 model 6341. Works and makes tags. It is a "debossing" machine.

Uh, oh! I wonder how it works. Looks complicated.

Is there still a manual available?

Chris,
It works, but needs a cleaning and some preventative maintenance. It is a complicated mechanical piece of equipment but very interesting to watch stamp plates when you take the cover off.
I will take some video when it is operational.
Manual reprints are available from our favorite auction site.

As I understand, it's the opposite of 'embossing'.
Embossing is where the lettering or decorative pattern is pressed from the back of the parent material resulting in a raised pattern. Among other things Braille uses such a process (Raised dots).
Debossing would be where the pattern (or letters) are pressed into the surface - such as on data plates. On this machine the output would be controlled by the keyboard. Pretty slick, being all mechanical.
Nice machine.
