You are correct. It was the Collings Foundation B-17. They were in the area and it was on the evening revenue generating flight. The B-24 flew over the next night.

I never saw a vintage WWII Bomber flying. Surely an impressive sight. Here in Germany I see an original Junkers Ju-52 flying around from time to time. Only three engines, but still sounds great. Although she does not have the original BMW engines installed anymore. They were replaced by Pratt & Whittney engines.
