The way that front fender looks, you would almost think it was a studebaker :shock: It does look like to have a nice wood steering wheel, but for $750.00 that would be a very expensive wheel :lol: :lol:

I see from the owners description that from 1958 - 1990 the truck was used for logging :cry: I would just about guarantee that after 32 years of woods logging the engine and drive train are completely worn out, as is the rest of the truck. As the saying goes she has been ridden hard and put away wet :lol: .In my humble oppinion she is only a rough parts truck,but then again with enough money anything is possiable :D I have seen alot of old trucks and farm tractors worn out and destroyed in the woods of Maine, being used in a manner they were never designed for, :shock: kinda like a poor mans skidder. We still have a few trucks and lots of tractors being used every day in the Maine woods , Joel has one logger downeast that he is selling parts to keep his old cckw going. It just goes to show that after 60++ years these old trucks are still out there and working hard :!:

This is the ultimate challange for a restoration, as it is former Air National Guard, it would be preserving a rare page in CCKW History.

Great point Joel....I was thinking that too.

What a great piece to display at parades in the area where that National Guard is located. A true piece of history!

Maybe those who frequent this site could adopt this truck and give it to someone who will lovingly restore it. When these trucks cleared the property Disposal yards the records folders that accompanied them were destroyed. I used to have an inside with some NG support units and could get maintenance history on trucks turned in by Maine national Guard, and the PDO at Loring would sometimes leak a little information. This was not supposed to happen. The reason the records followed the vehicles to the PDO is that until the sale was final, DOD still held the option to recall the vehicle and issue it to another DOD agency. But when Sammy Surplus finally did arrive to claim his toy, the vehicle records would be permanently destroyed. This is why none of the vehicles in the hands of civilians are able to have their history traced, it ended with the transfer of the truck to the final buyer. Very efficient and final. This was DRMO policy world wide. Now you have the rest of the story. There are some who claim a pedigree, but it is usually creative thinking, or from the residue of a bumper marking.

It would take a lot of body work, besides the rest to restore her, but she is restorable to someone willing to put in the money and effort. I have gotten too old and infirmed for a project of this magnitude but I would love to see someone rebuild this truck.

Well,

It WAS an Air National Guard truck... I'm intrigued by what significance that might have had. Was there anything unique parts wise to these trucks, or was it simply that very few were assigned to ANG units? The cab and fenders look toasted to me, the winch that is spoken so highly of is shot (the spool any way (but its worth more than the asking price??) and if it was a logger, look out for the internals on that drivetrain...

OK, any list "sponsors" out there want to step forward?? The Air & space museum here in Nebraska would seem to be a fitting home for a restored ANG truck, and I do know where a good condition bed is located... anyone game for doing a "team play"??

Air Guard CCKW, just the records on the DA Form 478, and some Blue paint. Maybe the Decal on the Dash on how to proceed across the runway.

It is an interesting truck with those markings. That brings up the question. did all ANG trucks carry those markings or would they have had standard Air Force markings, as most were stationed on active duty Air Force bases. It would appear this would have been a very early Air Guard truck, when the Air Guard was established. to have those markings. I hope someone saves her. :D
