I wonder...

I wonder…
Is the cargo body a steel composite (wood floor) and does it have an ID data plate located above the reflector right side (drivers side)?
The data plates usually showed where the body was assembled (mfg name by code), date of mfg.( month & year), contract number, body model number and nominal length & width of cargo body. A good example is an AFKWX-COE data plate from Kees51:

I don't know about the data plates Jim, but this is one great photo. I have around 800 hours flying a C47 as co pilot and pilot. She is a nastalgic old bird to fly but not nearly as much fun as a B25 or A26.
Great photo Bill. thanks.

To answer the question yes it has a composite body. The floor is wood and is original wood. As with most of the slats for the benches. And no there are no tags, someone must have really wanted them as they took the data tags off the bed and put the screws back in the holes.
Bill has another picture from a different angle showing the cabin of the aircraft and the wing in the background.

Doc Britton.

Neat picture w/o GI "dog" tags. It must be like a mattress label and like most were removed. Shame on them.

P.S. I'll bet the data plates are on the C-47.

I bet you are right there and probably the original flight logs still exist somewhere also, even though this is a static display aircraft.

I wonder if our famous C-47 pilot remembers "Terry and the Pirates" comics. :D

Wise Guy

While it is a beautiful truck...the server being unwilling to accept uploads did have something to do with it.
