Lead Photo 82nd LHD
Thank you gentlemen for the complements. This is a photo from the Battle Of the Bulge rifle match this past weekend at a local range outside of Ft Bragg, NC.
These guys in the photo are just a few of our 82nd Airborne Living History Detachment. There are over 30 of us in all consisting of Active Duty military and civilians. Dave the guy kneeling owns the 1942 Harley WLA and is active duty Air Force. I'm active duty Army, 82nd Abn, I'm the guy behind the camera and the CCKW is mine. I sent Bill the wrong picture. The other gentlemen are civilians in the photo and volunteer their free time to support the 82nd War Memorial Museum on Ft Bragg, NC.
And for a small group we have a pretty impressive motorpool. We have 8 MB or GPW Jeeps, 2 Dodge WC 51's 1 GMC CCKW 353, 1-1942 Harley WLA a Cushman Airborne Scooter A Clark Airborne Dozer and 3-75mm Pac howizers and an Airborne 105mm howitzer. With 2 pacs the 105 and one GPW the cushman and the Clark dozer belonging to the museum.
We take pride in our displays and are very strict on accuracy on uniforms field gear weapons and all other equipment used by our members. As our toughest judges are the veterans we honor with our displays. Nothing FARB allowed and we are extremly blunt if we spot something incorrect.
All American Week in May is our big event and we set up a LSA or Tent Village on the field in front of the museum for the week. It is like stepping back in time and last year we had 38 U.S Airborne and British Para reenactors displaying there gear, weapons, and vehicles for the vets and the public.
And no I wasnt speeding at the time.
