We used to have somebody else on this forum with flag mania, If you are to comment I would have thought that mention of the appropriate period flag would feature.

now Stepping down from MY "soapbox"...

Its a great truck....let it be.

It is a shame that the flag is hidden and not properly displayed as it should be, i personally would still feel honoured that another person of different nationality is displaying my flag. Not taking sides here, but many owners might not know how a flag should be used or displayed. I never display any flag or decoration on my trucks as i feel it could offend.
Thanks for the link atleast i know now how to display the American flag. :D
Nice truck !!!

I never seen this GMC before and do not now the owner but I can assure you that the owner is a very proud owner who wants to make sure that the public know it is an USA BUILD GMC used by OUR LIBERATORS and not just any vehicle from WW2

Its on this side of the ocean a normal thing to do to let people now where your sympathies lies.
It is certainly not a way to decrease a nations flag.( this way hung )

According to the plates its a Belgium located GMC and I think it was a Swiss rebuild toolset after WW2 when I look at the small access panels on the body.
I never attacked the truck, but offered a suggestion to make it "more correct".
I think that when you have a WW2 vehicle the only "correct" way to drive it is no use off flags or anything else on it what wasn't there during WW2.

Almrens.
I with you as well
I don't beleive the vehicle's owner is being dis-respectful.
It appears to me that he is proud of his truck AND his truck's heritage
Personnally,I am flattered that a foreign citizen is willing to display "Old Glory" 8)

Cheers
John

My two posts on this thread are ones of observation, and I apologise unreservedly if they caused offence.

However in keeping with the page title this forum is about:

The GMC CCKW. This is a discussion forum on the GMC World War 2 era 2.5 ton truck...the CCKW.

For those with any historical interest I believe both the hood number and the flag remain salient.

Its still a nice truck. Oh and as for our Union Flag it matters not, for many if not most British people remain blissfully unaware that there is a code of practice for the way it should be hoist.

Regardless of all opinions on this truck, she is still an old WWII warrior due the respect that we give to all other old CCKW's.
