I thought someone would laugh at me if I put a mess truck display together in the back of my CCKW Dump Truck. Now that someone else has done it, I'm guilt free.

That makes a nice display. Neat picture.

I remember a mess truck story from my father when they went with a wrecker to recover a CCKW that had rolled into a ditch in Korea. It was the mess truck and the mess sargent was really discussed. Seemsthe old boy had a batch of "raisin jack" fermenting in a big Kim Chee crock in the back. The Kim Chee jar did not survive.

I have to start piling up all that misc mess gear for my next display now.

Cheers

laugh at ya? Heck no man! Since I have been setting up a mess truck in my Chevy, I have had so many positive comments. Met many an ex-Army cook, or children whos dad was a cook in the Army. Its a big hit at nearly every show I attend now.

Go for it Cat man... you will be surprised at the response you will get to it out there.

It's always nice to see a "working" truck.

Makes sense to me. Mess gear in the back of a tipper makes for easy disposal of the dirty post and pans. :D
