Post by rwdfresno »

This poor ol CCW has only 30 days to live unless someone claims it. It is free. Located near Los Banos, CA.

Are you guys junking most of those run down trucks out there? It is a shame to see them being junked but it is nice knowing the field is being cleaned up.

Hopefully someone takes this truck.

If I had more room, I might actually take it but right now, my 352 doesn't even fit under the carport (length wise). It would be nice to have a shop some day but I make do with what I have.

Hopefully someone out there has room for the truck though as it looks like it would make a nice start from the photos and you can't beat free.

Nick,

Right now we are concentrating on selling as much as we can, of the items that we do not want to keep. We will be keeping the CCKW, CCW with the radio body and some select other items. The stuff that we can not sell we are going to do our best to make sure that it goes to a good home.

I wished I lived nearby I would take her, but alas the freight to get it here would be prohibitive.

If no one has spoken for this truck yet, then maybe this will help.

A guy in AZ may be picking it up but is not sure if it will fit on his trailer. She is sure a beat up old girl but still want to see someone get her becuase no matter how beat these beasts are it still makes me sad to send them to their death. If nobody ends up taking her we will probably pull out the front suspension, the running boards that are good and maybe a few other slecet pieces and put them inside hte rignal corps bed on the other CCW for spares.

Sadly, nobody took her. We have stripped everything that is usable off of her including the front axel for spares for our other CCW.

How sad. I wish I had found this site sooner, as I would have gladly taken it home. I am looking for a low cost project, to get started and that sounded like a perfect opportunity.

I guess you will be happy to hear that Mike and I being the softies that we are just could let the CCW go to the smelter so we towed her up near the hangar were we are going to use her as a parts donor for the other "good" CCW. There isn't much good left but the front axel will be a good spare and some of the door actuating mechanisms can go to the other truck. We are going to salvage as much as possible. The cab and sheetmetal is totally gone so that will probably go.

We aired up the tires and pulled the K60 CCW out of the field and onto the washrack. Gave it a good washing, cleaned the out rats nests and birds nests. Hopefully we can get some good work done on it this fall and winter.

WE will psot some pics of the CCW in the next few days.

How did the engine look in that yellow truck? If the engine is good it might have some potential but besides that there is not much to love lol. After we get the GMC engine out of the blue Chevy that currently has the IHC bed we will probably try and sell both of those trucks pretty cheap.

Mike if you are available next weekend lets see if we can get that blue GMC open cab engine to fire.
