CCKW REVILLE-NOT TAPS

Reville is a fun time, things happen fast and it gets your blood going. I miss those days, the Bugle, the Cannon going off, the beautiful sunrises, the battalion formations, the PT from FM21-200,(I was the instructor), the chow hall , Police Call. Sick Call was an experience, I learned a lot when I reported to the dispensary. The first thing you got at the dispensary was a thermometer, and I found that many who reported were goldbrickers, my opinion was confirmed when I witnessed one of the duds touching his thermometer to the hot radiator in order to drive up his temp.

Now, for your CCKW.
It may not want to wake up and run well when first started in the Spring, do not get frustrated, and start turning carburetor screws and messing with the points and timing, as your CCKW may not need any tweaking. If it does not seem to run as well as when it did before it was parked for the winter, it may be your Gasoline. Drain your tank and save the stale fuel for your Lawnmower or Garden Tractor, a fresh tank of fuel and a brisk 5 mile drive may be all it needs. The unleaded gasoline we have today has a very short life and it gets stale in as little as 3 months, even with Stabil additive in it. I have installed a Petcock installed on my fuel tank in place of the drain plug.(Thread size is 1/4" pipe, and this will make it easy for the NAPA counterman)

Stay tuned-more to come.

I enjoy the early spring drives but i sure don't miss morning formations at all. When I left the infantry for aviation all of that ended , except when in flight school, and found I loved a nice stroll onto the flight line a lot better than morning formations. :D :D
