Cold starting tips

This might be old news to some or all of you but I thought I should post it anyway. I don´t think this is in the TM for the CCKW but it sure does help when it is really cold. I use my CCKW all through the winter here in Sweden regardless of temperature. Besides running the motor until it reaches operating temperature I usually put the transfer case in neutral and then shift through all gears in the transmission. I usually allows it to run for a half to one minute on each gear depending on the temperature. This allows the oil to warm up and makes moving the vehicle and the shifting easier.

Thanks, Joel. I´m only 36 years old and I plan to keep my trucks well past my retirement so I better treat them good!

dsThat is good advice , I know it gets really cold in Sweden, and execially in Northern Sweden. As I live in south Texas cold temps. are not a problem, but like you I do the same thing in each gear, before I ever move the truck. Something we used to do on my grandfathers farm in the old Diamond T truck he used to have. That is where I learned to double clutch.
