STEERING WHEEL LOOSE WITHIN THE COLUMN???

There is an upper Steering Shaft Bearing at the top of the Steering Jacket. It is not a NAPA item but a GM part only. You can feel when it is worn out as you can wiggle the steering Wheel from side to side, or push/pull the wheel toward and away from you. Changing it requires the removal of the Steering Wheel. most trucks that have sat for a few years with out a top (Open Cab), or without a Windshield (Closed Cab) will have a rusty, corroded bearing, as the rain and snow do a number on the bearing. There are two Part Number Bearings, some were for early CCKW and some were for late, and many early CCKWs now have the later gear.
