Cadillac and Delco did that I know of....and of course Montpelier.

Someone do the research and I will post it to the site.

Only plants and suppliers that contributed to the GMC/Chevy Trucks.

The Yellow Coach and GMC Truck & Coach received the "E" award on June 2, 1944.

I have a quarterly magazine from Delco-Remy full of pictures taken the day they were awarded to E award. I want to say Guide Lamp did too.

All of our head lamps and tail lights came from Guide and starters, generators, regulators, distributors, etc were manufactured here. before the war the factories had roughly 4000 employees...by 1944 there were over 35000. They would supply all electrical and lamp components for keeps, truck, tanks, planes, etc...

Some plants were converted into makinf machine gun barrels, stamping and producing a sub machine gun, and even helped to produce the fmaous French liberator pistol. all of this I had to dig up and most of it is unknown to the people in this town...the plants are vacant, some torn down...A lady that I know whom is 82 now, said one day she gets very depressed when driving passed what used to be plant 1,3,7..she worked in those during the war.

some day their will be a museum here..if its not to late
