I finally found the manufacturer's plate from my 353 closed cab that I removed some time back:

MODEL - CCKW - 353 SERIAL NO. 68146 A2
DEL. DATE 3-42

It was on a farm in NJ for many years and the last time it was registered was 1970! It ran when I got it and we drove it right onto the trailer. I nice truck but the cab is shot, the bed is gone. Well, the positive part is it has helped some other CCKWs back onto the road. :)

Hi Rob
Your ser #68146 makes your truck a December 1941 production , but with a del date of March 42. Here is another fine example of the time difference between production date and del date not always being the same.Your ser # puts it at the very end of December production with only 123 more trucks made after yours for the month. :)

Thanks... my restored truck is registered as a 1944 but the serial number is 145,11x (can't remember the last digit). I would think this truck is a 1943 - any thoughts?

Thanks,
Rob

ps can you tell I spent the weekend in my garage.

Thanks.... at to think I started all this work with a simple brake job -- now I have rebuilt all the axles, replaced the brake system, installed a new wiring harness and now I am detailing the engine bay. Does the spending ever stop
