Can anybody please confirm definitively whether the GMC either in cargo or closed box body spec (eg machinery?) was used by any British armoured units during the North West Europe campaign 1944-45?

Any photographic evidence available?

Thanks in advance :D

There was supposedly a scandel just after D-Day when the allies switched from 3 grades of gasoline to just 2 grades to ease logisitcs:

from 70, 80, 110 (avgas) octane

to 80, 110 octane

Supposedly, some of the British MVs could not stand the better gasoline and a number of them experienced damaged engines just after we entered the continent.

For fear of hurting British morale, and probably for military reasons, it was hushed up.

Soooo maybe you might be correct that they turned to the Americans to help them out during this time.
