Nice accessory, but not practical for the collector if you value your weapon. It is hell on wood stocks.

What really looks nice is my M-1A1 carbine with folding stock in it's special web carrying case displayed on the seat.

You're lucky you are able to display that. Here in Kalifornia, a M1A1 w/ folding stock in considered an assault rifle and is illegal to own. You can own a carbine w/ a regular stock and can even own the folding stock, just not installed on the gun.

Interesting I 'd have thought that it with out the folding stock mounted it would then be more like a sawed off shotgun and not be allowed. They are currently have a lot of issuses with the difference between a deactivated weapon and reproduction weapons in Britian and what exactly a repro is or can be . What are the limits or impact in Cal. of things like repro Machine guns like .30 and.50 cal. ? as to them being displayed or mounted on a former Military Vehicle ?

All firearms are meant to kill except for the starter pistol.
The only time my vehicles have been displayed with a genuine weapon are at historical lectures. My M-114 along with armament was recently requested on campus for an event to honor Veterans of all Wars organized by the local high school history class. Imagine that in a time when school children get expelled for drawing a squirt pistol.

I see deactivated and repro machine guns displayed all the time here in Cali so they are fine the have. I think the only thing they are supposed the have on them is an orange tip to show they are not active or real, but I only see the tip on toys you can buy.

People can own single shot .30 cal machine guns here and used to be allowed to own single shot .50 cal machine guns, but now all .50 cal weapons are outlawed (except for black powder). The justification for that one was too many police officers were being killed w/ .50 cal sniper rifles and desert eagles. To be honest, I've never heard of a police officer in Cali being killed w/ a .50 sniper rifle, and that would be all over the news if it did.

Face it Nick, not everyone is law abiding like you are, and the law has to lean on the side of caution.

In NY and NJ the gangsta kids paint their real weapons with onrang/red on the muzzles and get the 1st shot off at the hesitant cops.

Lot of good that law did...
