WWII Camo netting

I am looking for the WWII camo netting and see a lot of the modern stuff but none of the older stuff. I have considered making it but would rather buy some all ready made up. Does anyone have a source for some quality repo camo netting. On the reverse, does anyone have a "how to" manual on the subject?

From the discussion it appears as though it is just the net and not the scrim. Somewhere I saw a TM or paper bulletin about how to (what pattern and colors) apply the scrim.

I have 2 WWII camo nets. Took a long time to find them and they were expensive. One came in a para-drop bag. They had that smell...the great fungicide smell. I believe this one is 30x30.

Lucky if all else fails we have repro kits available here with nets, and coils of brown and green burlap.

Its heavy stuff and shipping won’t be cheap.

Re the "rules” start dense in the centre and progressively ease off towards the edges. Use random pattern in length and design for the burlap. Erect in an irregular design, both height and base.

Camouflage is more about deceiving the eye rather than "hiding" an object.

As a guide try this taken of a WW2 net.

Thanks for the info. On the jeep forum one of the post mentions the scrim. If you can get in touch him, could you ask him if he still has it for sale? That is unless you want it. I m,ay havev to settle for making it.

To think when I was growing up, you could not give this stuff away, now you can't buy it....go figure. I sure wish I knew then what I know now...but then, I would not have believed it. (grin)

The manual you want to find is FM5-20B. "Camouflage of Vehicles". THis is one of the very few WWII manuals that has color plates. THere are reprints available I think.

Here are two images that give you more information about the size, pattern and color of nets. Also the time required to make them.
