Post by rwdfresno »

Where do you find information, pictures drawings etc of various van bodies built for hte CCKW? I have a K60 and a K56 van body that I would like further information on including pictures of the interior.

thanks, Ryan

Van Body Details

Post by Cat Man »

Hi Ryan,

The best detail information for the interior of any of the shop van configurations is found in the TM for that shop equipment set. As an example, TM 9-2852 "Welding Theory and Application" includes Capter 12 with all the tools and views of a closed cab CCKW with the Van body and interior views with all the kit installed.

E bay has an original manual for the Ord shop van kit at auction right now. Search "CCKW"

Also Emile Becker's book GMC CCKW has several van body interiors and the GMC Book from Wings and Wheels Publication (Czech) by Frantisek Koran has some clear photos but without the tools installed . They do show the exterior work bench set up and the side awning.

The new Geo C Marshall Museum collection at Overloon in Holland has the most complete examples of several shop vans on display. They are "way cool" with all the kit displayed.

Thanks for the recommendation but I suppose I am in a bit of a catch 22 since I need to know what equipment is used in the body to find the correct manual and I need the manual to find out which type of equipment is carried. The genaric description of the bodies is :"to transport signal corps equipment" which is a pretty genaric description. Hopefully, somone can point me in the right direction.

thanks, Ryan
