Anyone guess whose truck this might be. I hear he belongs to that "Red Ball Transport" group where they still speak CCKW big time.

I have a question for that nice looking CCKW and paint ad...

If the truck has a reg number and unit markings and someones personal name on the door, shouldn't it have stars too?

There's a difference between an ad and a recommendation - especially from someone with that level of real experience not just a weekend warrior. I have seen many hideous interpretations of blue drab so it's nice to know what a product looks like before you spend the money and do all that fiddly work. Besides it's fun to see what Joel's been up to.

Regarding stars, I have thousands of WW2 pictures and many of the early trucks carry no stars - that remained true in the Pacific whereas the close combat in Europe necessitated stars for easier recognition. So it depends on the time frame and theatre of operations you are aiming for.

And another question, with a reg number, it's possible to find the historic of the truck?

I was very happy to find the correct blue drab when I did my half-track, some of those blues that I have seen were horrible, as for the stars, there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what got stars and what didn't, the 2 41's I have here both had them, and neither of them ever left the states, personally I think it makes a truck more military looking.
