General Discussion about the WW2 Chevy Trucks 2 and 4 wheel drive. Technical aspects should be discussed the the CCKW Tech forum. Forsale/Wanted should be addressed in the CCKW Forsale or Wanted catagory
Here is a photo of a chevy that my buddy found in the Arctic. It can't be an Alaska highway truck because of the date. It is a 250 km snowmobile trip from the nearest town where he lives. That means an overnighter in a tent. Hopefully he can get me the data plates and the spare tire carrier.

Well it isn't 'interesting' really as a type or a particular production date, and mice have already run off with the engine side panels, but I think you need to figure out a way to rescue the whole thing. Take wheels and drag it back? Skid it down some ice roads?
I recall the video round here somewhere of someone driving out a Studebaker which actually looked worse than this Chev - has to be worth a try.
The intense cold up there has done a nice job of keeping what is left in decent order.
It has the late grill and the late gauges. I found it interesting only because of the story it might tell. How did it get there and where did it come from initially. I put in an order for a bunch of parts thinking it was on the edge of town. Boy was I wrong. It must have driven across the ice and then finally abandoned where it is now. It really would be nice to get home but it is too many thousand of miles from Ontario. I will try to find more photos of trucks he has found closer to town.

Actually they are still around. If you look closely at the photo, it shows Great Slave ____ Lodge, but the door shows that the missing word is Lake, as in "Great slave Lake Lodge". A quick trip to google revealed the following website:
Good luck! If you are forced to part out, other bits to look for include windshield thumbscrews, good gauges, floor boards, original heaters, original engine components, spare tire carrier, original tools, etc. etc. ...
Hi John
Sorry but I also need the front hardware. I wanted the whole rack originally, until I found out how far away it was. He is going to cut the rack up and get me the hardware. I have the side uprights and the bow corners but no bows either.

Davey, this is just a teaser for you. I took this photo the last time I was in Holland. Cases of bumperettes.

I got a call today from my buddy in Yellowknife and yesterday he flew in to the truck and got the box data plates. He is an aircraft mechanic and I guess he got to use an aircraft that was in to change from floats to skis. He works in the same airport as Buffalo Airways, if you happen to get the TV series. He checked out the tools he would need to try and get me the spare tire carrier and the rack hardware. He will try for next year. The one photo gives you an idea of the terrain in that part of the world. Lots of lakes. The other one shows the truck with some small trees in front of it. How long before it is no longer visible? Both photos are from yesterday.
