Hello,
I have a 42 CCKW Closed Cab, Banjo Axle that has sat for about two years...only moving back and forth when idling to work the clutch, etc.
I now have a frozen right front wheel as I needed to move it recented and it would budge. I had to call a wrecker and when he picked up the front end, it moved easily. while the front end was in the air, the left tire rotated as it moved, but the right front tire never moved.
How is the best way to get this broke loose? I am sure it has to do with the brake shoes, etc.
Looking for suggestions...Thanks

Re: locked up front wheel
Depends alot on exactly what went wrong
Did a retaining spring break or are the shoes only rusted/stuck to the drum....a few good raps with a sledge may break them loose....or....has some other item wedged itself between the shoe and drum
such as the spring tangs
Try to loosen the brake adjuster in effort to gain some working room
The drum may rotate in reverse alittle but not forward
You may have to remove the outer wheel bearing and using hub puller ( either 2 or 3 jaw ) be able to partially remove the drum
Even if you have "demountable" drums... by removing the wheel bearing you can gain some extra wiggle room to pull the drum off
Hope this helps

Re: locked up front wheel
Jim Carter has the banjo front springs for $7.95 last time I checked. They are WELL WORTH THE $$$
