Chassis/Hood number.

Post by Matt »

Hi guys,

I am trying to find out some info on a CCKW 353 chassis# 370104-B?. It is an open cab truck with winch. I'm thinking date of delivery would be August 1944? what hood number range would that put the truck into?.

Thanks,

Matt.

Hi Matt
Aug 1944 is correct, the first day of production most likely,it is only the 27th truck built with the August production starting with ser# 370077. You can replace the :?: on your ser # with either a 1 for split axles or 2 for banjo axles, what does your tuck have.I will have to check with a friend on your hood number range he has a lot more imformational books than I do .

Hi 42cckw,
I always understood the letter suffix in the serial# to be A split axle, B banjo axle, 1 no winch, 2 with winch, but I've been wrong many times
Maybe I'm cunfused.

Thanks Jim,
That explains why the suffix's on other trucks didn't always make sense to me.
Speaking of hood #'s could you help me arrive at a correct # for my CCKW SN # 353 480502 B2 4/45 build date .
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the info. I just found out it has splits so it's a B1. It's an ex Norwegian truck so it probably came to Europe post war. I'm thinking of buying it as a future project but it is missing a lot of parts and it's a non runner. I have another question relating to this but I'll post it on a seperate thread as I think it will be of general interest as well.
