I don't know the pros and cons of each, but if you want to keep the cost down on the fluid, stick w/ DOT 3 or 4. I run DOT 5 in my truck because that's what was in it and I didn't want to flush the entire system, but around here, it's up to $120 a gallon. The truck will take a lot of fluid if completely empty.
