Intake manifolds
The early CCKWXs and CCKWs with the mechanical booster had the pipe for the vacume booster check valve connected to the manifold by the last cylinder back. Later on they changed this to the middle under the carb. It may have been that the engine gaged when you took your foot off of the brake as only number 6 would get a slug of air with no gasoline in it from the booster.
