WW II ARMY WATER TANKER

Hello from Maui,
Anybody out there have a WW II Army Engineer 700 gallon tanker built on a CCKW 353 cab and chassis or information about it?
Looking for who built the tank, the pump and the engine driving the pump.

Know the pump is a centrifugal, need to know its output in gallons per minute at how many pounds per square inch.

Know the engine is a single cylinder 4 cycle gasoline engine. Need to know its horsepower.

Any info is much appreciated.

I know the owner of the 700 gallon water tanker truck, which is on the picture on the website you mentioned http://www.maui.net/~r11/firetruck-id. I think I’m going to see him over 2 weeks. I’ve got then the opportunity to ask it him and look at the truck.

Hello Jim,

I've found out some information. The Pump Unit is build by "The Jeager Machine Co" from Columbus, Ohio. Model number is 2PAF with serial number P191515.
I thought that I had found the name of the engine builder but it was of the magneto. The magneto is build by Fairbanks-Morse type XD187S. These magnetos were used by single cylinder engines like Wisconsin and other small 7 to 12 HP Engines.

The serial number is interesting: CCKW 353 283281 C2, this means that is was a "Stake wagon truck". Original (what the books says) the water trucks had suffix G2 or G1. Maybe other members can say more about this. Maybe it is a rebuild, but I doubt that.

The owner didn’t know who build the tank, but he told me that his truck is the only one he has ever seen around. The truck came from Norway. He didn’t had any technical information like output of the pump.

I hope that you can do something with the information.

Hello and thanks to all of you for your help. Found one of these trucks in the Netherlands beautifully restored. 1176 of these rigs were built. Makes you wonder if others survive.

Here is the information I sought: The water distributor pump (mounted in the big metal box behind the cab) was a Jaeger Model 2PAFH centrifugal. It produced 100 gallons per minute at 40 pounds per square inch pressure. It was powered by a Wisconsin Model BKN single cylinder 7 horsepower gasoline engine.
