Used Driver Compartment Top Canvas

Post by Colin Britton »

Does anyone have an extra used servicable top canvas for open cab CCKW? I had placed an order but was informed that the cab canvas's and the canvas for my ben hur would not be ready by the 22nd of May for All American week here at Bragg.
I have a cab back canvas that is usable but not the top that I desperately need. I'm trying to get my truck ready for as stated above All American Week here at Fort Bragg. AA Week is when the 82nd Airborne welcome's back all its veterans back for a week of Regemental Picnic's, tours of the museums on Bragg like the 82nd War Memorial Museum the JFK Special Operations Museum and the Special Operations and Airborne Museum in downtown Fayetteville. There are also demonstrations of airborne operations and airfield seizures for the public, live fire demonstrations and static displays of modern weapons and equipment and closing with the Division Review with the entire 82nd on parade on Pike Field.
My CCKW will be at the museum with our WWII displays were we turn back time and set up a WWII looking FOB in front of the museum. With period uniforms, weapons, tents and vehicles and artillery. With displays for the vets to look at and share memories with their family's and friends. If anyone can help me out with a canvas cab top you would be doing a great service.
This is also open to the public so all are welcome to attend, and I would love to meet anyone from the CCKW group in person. I know this is short notice but hope some of you maybe able to attend. Thanks for reading.
ATW,
Doc Britton.

My suggestion would be to display it with what you have now and it would look perfectly alright. These trucks were used with all canvas, some, or not at all....

Agreed. While I was waiting on my new canvas top we had the 4th of July parade. We did without the top and actually because it was so hot, my old WWII " relief driver" Bob Talbot and I had a better parade because we could lay the windshield down for some added breeze.
If you look at old combat photos expecially from the Pacific, that cab top was not always a necessity. The truck looks great with or without it. :D
