cckwx engine number
I was doing some work on my 41 CCKWX and noticed it still had the engine tag,how can I tell if this engine was the original engine for this truck,I have all the data plates and frame number,is there some corrolation between the engine number and frame or serial number or even the hood number, which is still the early blue paint, alot of this truck looks original and I would be interested to know if this engine is the original engine,it runs great,I just replaced the water pump and it was painted OD,and I have fuel pump to install,it's the handest truck with it's winch and A frame, I found the bed sides and tail gate for it,when I recovered the pulpit assembley for the M-2 I bought from the same guy and another mud guard,it's bit unwieldly trying to get around my ever increasing collection of vehicles, but it runs great and makes loading vehicle a breeze, this is probably the most pratical truck I have. I wouldn't want to use it as my daily driver but around the yard it's indespenseable. Anyone with this kind of info would be greatly appreciated,if you need the number let me know. Thanks alot Bob.

Hi Bob,
In short no,there isn't any connection between the chassis and engine numbers, however if it is quite a low number the chances are higher that it maybe the original engine.
The 270 in a CCKWX as it left the factory was slightly different to those in later CCKW's,it would have had two smaller oil filters instead of the one larger, single piece oil pan,etc etc.
Hope this helps!
