closed cab patch panel avaialbility?

Post by daveyboy »

who makes them?

I see TONS of repro parts for 47-55 chevy cabs, but a lot less for the earlier ww2 cabs.

I am in need of the front lower cowl section, where the fender bolts too.

I have a chevy 1.5 tonner, but Ill wager the GMC closed cab is close enough to work?

I only need about a foot of that area, upwards, not the entire cowl by any means. seems the fender bolted to the body is a sort of moisture gathering area, hence a bit or rot thru right where the seem of the fender attaches to the body cowl lower section,

I did a search on line and found no vendors making this particuliar section of cab patch panel.

Jim Carter online catalog mentions a cowl peice, but the picture doesnt look like what I need.

Anyone purchase a patch panel anywhere?

Please advise!

thanks, Dave

Take out your sheet metal tools :)
'Cause you're gonna have to make most every thing from scratch.
Lower door sills and lower door skins are all that are avail for the 40 to 46 cab
The GMC lower cowl is the same ,but I have never found one in a bone yard that was't already rotted there.
Fiberglass rocker panels are avail as are wiper header panels ( J Carter )
I've got good take out rockers and other cab tins but the cowl corners are already sold

Hope this helps

cab cowl corners

Jim Carter also offers cab cowl corner patch panels. Look here:

I've got a set I ordered, but haven't installed them yet. Other things I've ordered from Jim Carter truck parts have been dead on...

patch panels

Post by daveyboy »

thanks for the other links guys.

I bought mine from Joel Gopan and they arrived last week.

BEAUTIFUL to say the least! These parts are first rate for sure.

I cant speak for the others being offered, but these will work out quite well for me. They apear to be top notch replacements.

thanks Joel!!
