Re: Will not re-start after stalling
Need more information:
1. Does it not turn?
or
2. Does it turn and not catch?
If it is #2, you have either a:
A. Fuel problem
or
B. An ignition problem
If fuel, it is either flooding or starving
If ignition, either it is hot coil going open, or engine not turning fast enough
Note that these are just basic things. There could be more. Hope this helps

Re: Will not re-start after stalling
Ok dr dueuce thanks , like I said if you switch it off it will start again ok , its just if you stall it , it will turn over ok but not start. It does sometimes appear to try to start, a bit like a diesel when its got air an air lock but not quite catching on.
Some one said it may have a vapour lock in the line due to the line getting hot , so I lagged the fuel line where it passes over the exh. manifold but it still the same . Is there a test I can do on the coil while it is still hot.
regards Frank

Re: Will not re-start after stalling
If it is vapor lock, try giving it a shot of ether and see if it makes a difference. If it is vapor lock, you can use heater hose sections sliced down the side so you can slip them over the metal gas line from the pum to the carb
They sell a spark inline indicator which lights up under spark.
You can use a pair of vice-grips clamped to the starter linkage above the starter. You can use it like a remote starter when you are under the hood.
Don't discount the boiling of the gas in the carb from heat. Make sure your heat control valve on the ex manifold is in the summer position.
It starts OK if you start it and stop then start it again (cold) does it start OK?

Re: Will not re-start after stalling
That's really helpful - I have a similar problem. If I have a failed start I cannot get her started again. I had this problem the other day so I shut off the fuel (she's been converted to LPG) and she then started!! Quickly switched the fuel tank back on, bingo!!
I thought it may have been an LPG specific issue but sounds a common problem. Touch wood that this is the problem.

My 353 starts ok after been switched off normally, -Ok.
but will not re-start after stalling-battery problem.
Your engine turns very slowly and can not catch? To me your battery is discharged.
