That's the little thingamajig tht is located on the stud on the driver's side of the block of your CCKW where the motion of the linkage changes from horizontal to vertical. If it gets dry it can stick at full throttle during shifting, and that gets scary and potentially can blow your 270. A couple drops of OE on the pivot shaft twice a year will do the trick.

Actually a sticky linkage can be quite entertaining if a show off is trying to double clutch for the girls, it will make him swallow his cigar.
