Of all the hundreds of surplus CCKWs I saw in the 40s-50s, the Harrison Hot Water heater was a rarity. Mine gets its only use in the Veterans Day Parades. They really are not much to bragg about when it comes to throwing a lot of heat. Same unit is used in Open/Closed Cab, and it has no defroster provisions. They were designed and manufactured by Harrison Div. of General Motors, and came out in 1944. They look nice tho, but they do hide the Data Plate.

A Heater of any description would have been useful, when, in last winter, we drove the Tipper from Norway to Finland. Strangely some warm air found its way to the cab thru the floor where the tranny lever is located. All the Canvas on that truck was past its prime, so we didn't complain about lack of fresh air. Still, it was great fun. I don't think that the Water Heater was much to be found on Norwegian trucks. The Swedes, who seem to have modified their GMCs much more, built numerous wooden cabs which probably had some sort of heating too.

If you really need heat and have an open cab (I wouldn't do this on a closed cab), you can remove the upper felt pad .
When I 1st got my M6 Bomb Truck, It would just about kill you from the heat driving it because that piece of felt from the clutch and brake pedals was missing! You could tell exactly when the thermostat opened for the 1st time....
